Hausbau v1.5.1 - The tree update

Hello, it's been some time, but I finally found a moment to tinker with this little game.

The big thing in this update is the addition of a new game mode: High Score Mode. In this mode, you gain points by placing tiles. One of the reasons this update took a while is that I explored lots of different ways to make this puzzle mode more interesting. I tried out some wild ideas, such as a density meter for the city, but in the end, these concepts were often too abstract or simply not fun. Ultimately, I decided to incorporate a new set of tiles: trees. These tiles not only give extra points, but they also add some visual variety to the urban cityscape. I liked them so much that I included them in the chill Zen Mode as well.

Additionally, I added a preview window for the upcoming tile and the ability to reroll it. I think this allows for more strategic tile placement and makes the puzzle mode more engaging.

As for the now-labeled Zen Mode—the playground mode without points, turn limits, etc.—the core elements remain the same. I added some quality-of-life features from High Score Mode, such as the camera following the tile you’re about to place. I also included some fun features in the 'View Mode': you can invert the colors of the city for a nighttime vibe, and watch a replay of all placed tiles.

One thing I removed from version 1.0 is the randomly generated city names. I felt they didn’t add much and just cluttered the UI. But if people liked them and want them back, I’m open to reintroducing them in a future update.

Changelog:

  • Added High Score Mode
  • Updated the graphics of several tiles and added new ones (including the tree tile)
  • New features in 'View Mode': invert colors and replay
  • Auto-scrolling: the camera follows the current tile

i like the randomly generated names, but maybe a toggle button/only appearing in view mode might be nice. it makes the screenshots look nice imo
